Painting Elephants

Posted by Janet on June 4, 2008

Have you ever seen elephants paint? Last week at Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden & Resort in Pattaya, Thailand, I went to an elephant show where elephants performed various tasks and acrobatic skills. During one part of the show the trainers brought out canvases and baskets containing different colored paint. Each elephant stood in front of a canvas and painted by holding a brush with its trunk. When the paint ran low, the elephants gave the brush to the trainer, who then dipped it in more paint.

I found this video on YouTube that shows a particularly nice painting by an elephant. I have no idea where this video was taken though. All the elephants I saw painted plants.
